Jovin Webb photo published in Living Blues Magazine

Jovin Webb performs during his guest appearance with The Southdown Souls at the Live After Five in Baton Rouge, LA, October 25, 2024

n October 2024, I photographed Jovin Webb performing at Live After Five in downtown Baton Rouge. A few months later, one of my black and white shots from that show caught the attention of Blind Pig Records. They connected me with the editor at Living Blues Magazine, and I submitted several images from that night. The photo they selected wasn’t the original frame that drew interest. It was a different moment entirely. Still from the same show, but quieter. More introspective. That image ran with the article “Jovin Webb: Finding Depth in Simplicity” (Issue #295, March/April 2025), written by Alex McCarthy.

I’ve had photos published before, but this one stands out. It was a national blues publication recognizing my work in a live setting, representing an artist whose voice carries weight. I may have started in rock, but moments like this remind me why I shoot live music across all genres. It’s about the connection of the music caught in a single frame.
