One of my favorite pieces for The Sound 228 spotlights Knoxville-based alt-hard rock band Broken Side, diving into their single “Unlorn” and their upcoming album release To Fill the Void, dropping July 18th.

I first photographed the band during their set at Bikin’ the Beach in Biloxi, Mississippi, and a few of those images made it into the article alongside stage shots from a club show, provided by the bassist’s wife, Sarah Gratz. The mix of the festival daylight and the moody indoor lighting gave the feature a fuller picture of the band’s presence.

Broken Side has quickly become one of my favorite bands to cover. “Unlorn” in particular grabbed me right away.
